Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and CaloCalo (“we”, “us”) covering the CaloCalo mobile app and the calocalo.app website. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. How we handle your data is described separately in our Privacy Policy.

You sign in with a Google or Apple account and must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in provider secure. One account is for one person; don’t share it or use someone else’s.

Some features, including AI meal scanning, require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store and charged to your App Store account. The exact price and billing period are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm, and payment is taken when you confirm.

These subscriptions renew automatically. Unless you cancel, the subscription renews for the same period and the same price, and your App Store account is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple emails you a receipt for every renewal, and sends a renewal reminder before charging you for an annual plan. If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Cancelling takes fewer taps than signing up, and you never have to contact us. On iOS: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → CaloCalo → Cancel Subscription. The same screen is reachable from the App Store app (your profile picture → Subscriptions), or directly at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. We never require an email, a phone call, or a chat to cancel, and we do not show retention offers you have to decline first.

Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms; we cannot issue them directly. Prices may change; we will notify you before a change affects an active subscription, and a price increase never takes effect without your consent where the law requires it.

CaloCalo estimates calories and nutrients from photos, descriptions, and a food database. These are estimates, not measurements, and can be wrong: portion sizes, hidden ingredients, and preparation all affect real values. The app is a tracking tool, not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, dietary, or health advice. Consult a qualified professional before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you are pregnant, have a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating.

The app’s AI identifies food and estimates nutrition. It is not a counsellor and gives no mental-health, crisis, or medical guidance. Do not use it for that. Calorie tracking can be harmful for some people. If you are struggling with disordered eating, self-harm, or thoughts of suicide, please stop tracking and reach out for real help: in the US call or text 988, or find a line in your country at findahelpline.com. CaloCalo is not an emergency service and cannot respond to emergencies.

Don’t misuse the service. In particular, you agree not to:

• probe, overload, or disrupt our servers, or access them other than through the app
• upload content that is unlawful or that you have no right to share
• reverse engineer the app or resell access to it or to our food database
• use automated tools to scrape or bulk-extract data from the service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.

Your diary, photos, and profile are yours. You grant us the limited license needed to run the service: storing your data, syncing it across your devices, and sending the photos and descriptions you submit for analysis to our AI provider. We claim no other rights to your content, and this license ends when your data is deleted.

The app, the website, the CaloCalo name and logo, and the compiled food database are our property or licensed to us. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on your devices for its intended purpose. Nutrition data sourced from public datasets (such as USDA) remains subject to its own terms.

We may add, change, or remove features, and we may interrupt the service for maintenance. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you notice and a way to export your data.

You can stop using CaloCalo at any time and request deletion of your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these terms; where reasonable, we will warn you first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitation of liability) survive it.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of nutrition estimates. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably fall under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Việt Nam. If you use the app as a consumer, you keep any protection granted by the mandatory laws of the country you live in.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date below and notify you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use CaloCalo after that means you accept the new terms.
